Conversations: Me too

Hi Chris,

As I think about what I want to do or be this year, I see a number of coaches, mentors doing what looks like a lot of fun.

They are speaking, traveling, writing books, YouTube, TikToc, Facebook and Instagram videos.

I see them everywhere!

I look at them and I want to be where they are…

How do I get started?

Signed, Me too

Well hello me too!

Love your energy and aspirations!

While you shared where you want to be, you didn’t say much about who you are.

And dare I say, that’s the EXACT place to start.

When I decided 20 years ago that I wanted to become a “coach” I knew that I needed training.

So I flew to Seattle, WA to sit in a live classroom to learn how to be a life coach. This process, toward certification, took 18 months.

At the end of it, I could honestly say, I am a coach.

I looked around at the coaches who were “killing” it.

They were doing live events, hosting workshops, and making beaucoup bucks! (Social media wasn’t as HOT then…but oh boy it made a difference later)

I wanted to be where they are…too.

For a while, I was doing it (not necessarily “killing” it) but making money, writing books, hosting live events.

And you’re right; it was fun…for a while.

The thing that people forget is that there is a LOT of work behind all the glitz and glamour.

I think the best example is a duck skimming a lake. They elegantly glide across the water while their little feet are paddling like crazy beneath them.

Why do I tell you all this, “Me too”?

It’s certainly NOT to dissuade you.

It is to gently guide you to start with who you are and how you want that to show up in the world.

Next, determine how you want to let people know that you’ve “arrived!”

Do you want to do what the coaches and mentors are doing or do you want to take your own approach?

Finally, make a plan for how you want to achieve the success you seek.

You may NOT want to do what they are doing and for you, success looks different.

  • What is success for you?
  • What will you do to achieve it?
  • How will you know you have it?

Most importantly, “Me too”, do not lose YOU in this.

That was my biggest mistake and greatest lesson.

I heard an executive say, “chase the passion, not the money.” Sage advice.

For you, “follow your heart, not the crowd” and you’ll have inspired others to find their way to be where you are, “Me too!”

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, you know where to find me…

~ Fear nothing. Love everything.
