Conversations: Stalled but revving

Hey Chris,

My life feels stalled out.

It’s like standing at the edge of the pool. Everyone jumping in, is just as doubtful as me. The difference is they made the decision to jump in while I am slowly sticking my toe in the water.

Is that ok or should I jumpstart my life and take the leap?

Signed,

Stalled but revving

What I love about your “signed by” is that you may be stalled but you’re revving…which means you actually aren’t stalled at all…

You have the wheels turning. Yay!

Of course, I have to use the line my mother did when I was younger… When I would say, “well all my friends are doing it.” She would say,

“Well if your friends all jumped off a bridge, I guess you would too?”

Sorry, couldn’t resist…hearing my Mom in my head…lol

First, you don’t REALLY know if they are as doubtful as you. They may say that to encourage you to do what they are doing…and not respecting where you are.

Second, who says there is anything wrong with sticking your toe in, slowly, before you jump in? Do you turn on the hot water and immediately stick your toe, hand or face in? No…you likely test the temperature first.

I know that we want to be a part of something…a group, a movement, a happening. But that doesn’t mean we have to approach it the same way others do.

In fact, what YOU may experience is exactly the opposite.

Imagine jumping in and hitting your big toe, hard, while others are just gliding by you with glee.

Not the same experience right?

Therefore trusting YOUR instincts and taking the best approach for you to have the life you want, will be far more fruitful than trying to mirror the lives of others.

Who, by the way, may not want YOUR life.

Here’s the bottom line, Stalled but revving…

  1. You get to decide how to jump in or “jumpstart” anything in your life.
  2. You get to decide what that looks and feels like.
  3. You get to decide…and trust and believe me when I say…
  4. You are the ONLY ONE who truly matters in all of this…

Vroom Vroom…

~ Let life love you!
