Hey Chris,
Everyone is talking about, new year, new me.
I want to be talking the same, yet I can’t seem to get it together.
With all the ads for gym memberships and healthy eating plans, I don’t or can’t see my way forward.
It’s a mental barrier that is getting in the way of pursuing my physical goals.
Got some guidance, inspiration or motivation to get me over the hump?
Signed,
I want a new me for a new year!

Congratulations, new me for a new year!
The mere act of asking means you’re ready!
If you’ve followed my blog posts for any length of time, I bet you know where this is starting off…smile
First and foremost…
Why? What’s not so good about the old you?
Perhaps there is one area that you want to change, enhance or improve this year?
Certainly not the WHOLE of you…because I bet you’re pretty swell. (yeah, I’m from THAT generation…lol)
So you might want to start there…one thing…which by the way can jumpstart any other area you want to enhance.
Next, what would make the biggest difference for you, right now from where you are?
Here’s why I’m asking you to look at it in this way…
After two years of being at home with the Covid restrictions, I decided that I needed to drop a few pounds. But more importantly, I realized that what I really wanted was to get active again.
I was pretty active and fit in the past and more than anything I was craving movement. Heck, I have a whole plastic tub full of DVDs and VHS exercise programs!
Dropping a few pounds also meant eating differently, but I wasn’t ready for that. I spent 2020 and 2021 improving my cooking skills and I was not about to waste that newly found talent…lol
So the alternative to reach my goal was to get moving again.
Well you know what happened?
I got fit but my weight was not dropping as quickly as I wanted because I kept eating like I had before exercising!
Here I thought exercising would make the biggest difference for me and, while it helped it also revealed the next thing to focus on…my eating better.
I found out about eating to reduce inflammation in the body and coupling that with the exercise…BANG, game changer! Focusing on one thing, exercise, jumpstarted my focus on eating better.
And BONUS, I get to use my new cooking skills too!
Now, new year, new me…
So here’s my recommendation.
Get clear on your “why”… It should be YOURS alone.
Next, identify what one thing would make the biggest difference in your life, right now. You may have to go on a journey of self-discovery just as I did.
Trust me, when you find it…you’ll have that BANG moment and the game will change for you. There will be no mental barrier and your physical goals will take shape.
I can tell you that to this day, I continue to exercise 3-4 days a week and while I blew through my weight goal, I got down so low that I can now “cheat” whenever I want! smile
Choose your why and your one thing…and off you go to a fabulous 2023!
I hope that helps!
Happy New Year, New Me!
~ Let life love you!
