Conversations: True calling?

Hey Chris,

Have you ever felt inadequate for having many interests and goals and not having found the “true calling”?

Signed,

True calling?

~~~~~~~~~~
Oh boy true calling…yes I have!
I’ve actually felt it in my “seasons” of life.
When I was in corporate, after college, I wasn’t sure which career path to pursue. But you can chalk that up to being “new” and not knowing the landscape yet.
However, even 18 years in, I was still pursuing multiple areas of interest. I spent time in the administrative area, then management, then technical, then HR, then sales…and not sure where it would all take me.
I “found” my true calling, during all of that movement, when one morning I awoke and looked up at the ceiling asked,
“Is this all there is?”
Very soon after that I was led to coaching.
And THAT…is my “true calling.”
I share this story, because I want you to see that there is nothing wrong with having many interests and goals.
In fact, this “inadequacy” can be the inspiration for you to find that “thing” that is meant for you.
Far too late in life, yet still right on time, I discovered that in everything, there is a gift. Looking back on all the twists and turns, competing interests and goals…in all of it, it led me to the thing that “lights me up.”
You may already know “true calling,” that thing that lights you up. I fervently believe most people do.
It’s either that they can’t give a “name” to it or that they are afraid to. More the latter, I have found.
A shift is perspective is what’s called for here.
Having the many interests and goals does not make one inadequate.
It actually leads you on a path to what makes you happiest, gives you joy and just freaking lights you up!
Enjoy the journey, true calling, and trust that it will be your guide.
It’s there.
Right now.
You just have to allow it.
Then, just be it.
~ Let life love you!
