Hi Chris,
There is one thing I’ve been actively working on to improve myself.
Understanding my patterns. But I seem to be going in circles and not getting clear on what they are and what to do about them.
Can you help?
Signed,

Well pattern seeker, congratulations for being so introspective.
Few people WANT to find their patterns, often resisting the fact that they even have them.
We ALL have patterns, to be sure. But we tend to focus on the “good” ones vs. those we could improve upon.
The key to understanding your patterns, is to first identify them.
We are such action oriented humans, that we tend to do something and then motor on to the next without identifying what just happened here and why.
The way to get to that is simple.
Keep a journal.
You cannot identify, nor understand your life, unless you can see and reflect upon it.
I’ve kept a journal for years. I did so as a child, when we called them diaries and I do so as an adult. It’s amazing what you learn about yourself that you don’t consciously know.
You will, if you keep a journal.
Now, here’ the “missing link” to keeping a journal.
Many will suggest that you keep a daily or weekly journal. I will tell you that the timing for entries doesn’t matter. Make your entries when you feel it’s time, necessary or critical to do so.
That way it’s more powerful and you won’t feel it’s an obligation.
The missing link…
Don’t just write…READ your past entries from time to time.
Doing this will bring the awareness and understanding that you miss by simply focusing on making an entry.
You can read them weekly, monthly or when you want to see if you’re repeating yourself… You’ll get a “hit” that somethings sounds familiar and you’ll be prompted to go read previous entries.
Sometimes, when I’m making an entry, I’ll read the previous one that could be a few weeks to a month earlier. It’s fascinating to see how far I’ve come or how I’m circling around (like you!) and am back to an earlier point.
In using this “missing link” you, Pattern seeker, will see and understand what patterns are emerging, serving or guiding you to something different.
Journal on my friend and enjoy the experience!
