Conversations: Fear has no place here

Hey Chris,

I feel there is one thing holding me back from where I want to be…

FEAR…

I’m actually starting a blog and I want my first blog post to be about the fear that holds us back.

What are your thoughts?

Signed,

Fear has no place here

~~~~~~~~~~
Let me say how freaking BRAVE you are to take on fear as your first blog post!
Whoo hoo! Talk about taking it ON baby…smile
Now having said that, let me say this.
The thing we forget about fear is that we can USE it to our advantage.
Here’s what I mean…
When you’re in fear, you actually have nothing to lose by going for it, right? Think about it…
  • When we’re in fear, we summon energies and adrenaline that kicks us into fight or flight mode.
  • When we’re in fear, we can suddenly get ideas about ways to keep us safer.
  • When we’re in fear, we can become resourceful and find people, places or things to serve us.
While I don’t want to be in fear, when I am, I ask…what am I missing here? How could this serve instead of stop me?
Our everyday fears, are sometimes a wake up call to start looking at things differently.
Finding ways to make fear “work” for you vs. allowing it to get in the way of your joyous “being” on the planet is far healthier.
Start now…
Think of some ways you could put fear to work for you. How could it make you stronger, happier and more powerful?
One of the ways I approach this is to remember what I’ve overcome, when in the face of fear. I can then recall that it didn’t stop me from making my life better.
Quick example…
Toward the end of my wonderful time as an entrepreneur, I began to run out of cash. I knew I needed to get at least a part time gig, so that I wouldn’t be on the streets. Nothing and no one was hiring me!
Major FEAR!!!
Then a postcard showed up in my mail about applying for a fed job. In stark fear, I realized I had nothing to lose.
And so I did.
Today, I have a six-figure salary and STILL get to have my business too!!!
Would I have pursued a fed job AND maintain my business, if I hadn’t gone deep into the bowels of fear?
No.
Am I glad I “went there?”
Yes.
It has reminded me that as YOU say…fear has no place here.
So recognize, fear has no place here, that if you will USE it to your advantage, it can reward you with far greater than you can imagine…
PS – would love to see the blog post!
