Conversations: Lost in translation

Yo Chris,

I’ll keep this short and sweet…

Do you ever feel like you should be doing something but can’t figure out what it is?

LOL lost in translation…every freaking day of my life!

Not entirely.

Some days I wander from room to room in my home wondering what I was looking for or even what day it is!

But I know that’s not what you’re really asking.

What you’re likely reaching for is…

What could I do that would make an impact?

This impact could be on you, those around you, even the world.

Impact is one of those tricky things, lost. If you’re not careful, it can cause you to give up because you don’t see a way of making it happen or to the degree you want it to happen.

Therefore, if you TRULY want to make an impact, I’d recommend you start small and personal. Here are a few things to consider:

Make your bed each morning. This gives you a visual success story and it makes an impact on your wellbeing when you walk into or through your bedroom.

Cook something new. Make something you have to follow a recipe to complete and make it just for you, first. When you see, taste and enjoy the results of creating something from scratch, it will give you a deep sense of joy and accomplishment. (by the way, it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be done.)

Read a book from a genre that thrills you. In the 80’s I was a HUGE fan of Sydney Sheldon’s books. I would buy them, hardcover, as soon as one was released. I was heartbroken when he passed away. Well, I picked up one of his later books since I was sure I wouldn’t remember it…and I didn’t. After starting it and getting frustrated with the amount suspense, I went out and picked up two more of his books! When you feel like you can complete something that frustrates you, you truly impact your psyche to believe that you’re unstoppable!

Journal. Start writing, free form, about anything you want to. This could include, what you want to be when you grow up, what you would like to do to make a difference in the world, what makes you feel special, what makes you feel good about yourself and others, what would make an impact for you and for others that would make your life sparkle?

Choose one to start. Don’t try to take on too much as once. It will frustrate you and you will continue to wander.

Once you start, step back and take stock of what you’ve done and how it feels. Not what it looks like, how it feels.

Why feeling?

Because if you connect to the feeling of making a difference, an impact in your own life, you’ll know your true power. Then, when you start to wonder and wander, you’ll be able to tap into that feeling to realign and move forward to creating the difference that will give you more of that feeling.

Select the easiest and build on it knowing it’s going to take you to a place of confidently creating the BIGGER impact you’re meant to make in the world.

Get started today, lost in translation and let us ALL find your brilliance lighting up our lives!
