Conversations: Tired but willing

Hi Chris,

I would like to know what are ways you stay focused on your personal growth?

Kinda struggling here!

I was going soo good and now I feel exhausted.

Signed,

Tired but willing

Well Tired but willing, let me first salute you in your quest to focus on your own personal growth!

And…even though you’re tired, you’re still willing to take it on by reaching out!

I’ll be happy to share ways I stay focused, but first I’d like to address you’re “going so good and now you’re exhausted.”

Focusing on your personal growth should excite and energize you.

  • It’s an  opportunity to feel really good about the “good” you’re doing for your own wellbeing.
  • It’s about going from one level of your understanding and knowing to another.
  • It’s also creating the space to invite even bigger goals and dreams into your life.

THAT is not exhausting.

So for me to hear that you’re exhausted, sounds like you’re making this into a goal vs. a journey. You see, you’re never DONE with personal growth until you’re done growing. And you know what that means…

If you’re exhausted, is it because you’re expecting to achieve what you think others have, instead of what you want personal growth to give you? I know we all can get caught up in others’ experiences and wish we had the same.

However, if you REALLY knew what was happening in people’s lives, you’d wonder if they understood the truth (and the gift) of personal growth!

Here’s the bottom line Tired, if “personal growth” is making you focus on how good you WERE and how EXHAUSTED you are, then with respect, you are confused. In this case, you are actually focused on personal GOALS, not growth.

HUGE difference.

So decide where you want to put your time and energy…on the journey or on the destination…and then off you go!

Ok, as for me?

I am a huge reader… I have too many books — both printed and digital — and too little time. So I get a lot of my inspiration from Hay House…www.hayhouse.com

I’m not an affiliate for them, I just enjoy the books they offer. Their sales are really good and I buy books when they offer a good deal.

While I am a member of personal and self development groups on facebook, I look at the content to see where people are struggling and the kinds of tools they use to grow, to inspire me.

I am also an ACTIVE and CONSISTENT meditator. This means, I get out of bed 30 minutes early, just to sit with my spirit. I recently started to incorporate journaling, immediately following the end of my mediations, so that I can capture the experience to draw from later.

These three actions are what keep me focused on my personal growth, daily. I am neither exhausted nor discouraged from continuing on the journey, because I recognize that it is a “growth” journey and to “stop” is just not an option. These activities energize me so that I can stay in the groove of growing.

Let me applaud you again, Tired but willing, for being open to learning how to make personal development more powerful for you.

Never anticipate the end this journey, you’ve got so much more good stuff ahead of you!
