Conversations: Confidence seeker

Hey Chris,

There are so many things I want to try, take on and just plain do. But I don’t seem to have enough confidence to get started.

How do you find the confidence to “nike” it?

I know I’d create some great results if I could just find the confidence!

Help!

Signed,

Confidence seeker

Well now confidence seeker, I can’t wait to see your brilliance in the world!

So you want to know how to “nike” it? (For those who don’t what the heck “nike” it is…just do it :))

Here’s the thing… To “nike” it is to force something to happen that may not be in your “spirit” to do. Therefore, it either won’t happen (confidence killer) or won’t look or feel like you wanted (confidence destroyer).

Therefore, you might consider a different approach.

You say there are so many things you want to do, take on, etc.

Why?

Once you answer that question, honestly and with your whole heart and soul, you won’t need confidence. You’ll need someone to hold you back from being a bull in a china shop — unstoppable!

Whenever I hear someone say they want to take on the world and make it a better place, I stand back and listen. Are they saying it because everyone else is saying it or are they saying it’s what they SHOULD be doing with their time and energy?

You see, confidence seeker, your “why” will give you the confidence to “take it on” in all of its glorious pain and pleasure. When the going gets tough, you will ask yourself, “why am I doing this.”

If that “why” isn’t big or bold enough in your heart and soul, your mind will take over and tell you that you can’t do it or never could.

See what I’m saying?

Truly, you don’t need confidence, that’s why people say “nike” it. But they miss the corresponding “need” and that is to open your heart and mind to the “why” of doing it.

“Why” is the answer to the confidence you seek…
