Conversations: Goal seeker

Hey Chris,

I’m trying to figure out the habits or behaviors I need to finally achieve my goals.

I want something easy to do and long lasting. I know it exists or people wouldn’t be healthy, wealthy and happy otherwise.

Whatcha got for me?

Signed,

Goal seeker

Hey Goal Seeker,

I got something for you!

It’s something simple.

It’s something you can do from where you are.

It’s something that everyone thinks of last.

It’s something few people do, first.

It’s something few people do, consistently.

It’s something people overlook.

It’s something that will rock your goal and make it achievable.

It’s something that you MUST start with.

It’s something that is so easy to do if you truly want to achieve your goal.

It’s something that you will thank me for when I’m done with this little tirade.

It’s something…

A little something…

Called…

L-O-V-E

I’m NOT making this shit up.

If you DO NOT L-O-V-E the goal you’ve set for yourself, you will either:

  • achieve it and hate the journey to it
  • achieve it and say that wasn’t good enough
  • not achieve it and think you’re not good enough
  • not achieve it and think it was a dumb goal
  • not believe in it and ultimately not achieve it

Once again, tirade finished.

Here’s the point of all of this.

Your goal should be something that you want to achieve because you either L-O-V-E the goal or you L-O-V-E what the goal and its achievement will give you…namely L-O-V-E.

I always like to give examples of what I’m suggesting so that you don’t think I’m making this up…lol

After being in Covid lockdown, I learned a lot about myself. One, I am a stress eater. I really didn’t know that about myself. And since I am usually conscious of my weight, I was surprised to learn I had gained over 15 lbs!

I realized that to achieve the goal of losing weight and feeling good again, I had to return to my L-O-V-E…that being exercise and eating well. (yeah, I’m one of those…lol)

So I set a goal to lose the 15 lbs with a combo of exercise and an anti-inflammation diet. I approached it with how I already L-O-V-E to exercise and eating good food so I was going to L-O-V-E the result it will give me.

I decided to use my schedule at work to take a break at lunch and exercise. I found a book that gave me easy and tasty anti-inflammatory recipes. Loving this approach gave me momentum and consistency.

I also got a Fitbit to track my progress so that I could not only feel the weight loss but see it. And you can imagine, as I saw the numbers come down, my L-O-V-E of the goal went up.

Because I L-O-V-E the goal and the achievement of the goal, it gave me the habit and behaviors I needed to be successful.

So here’s my suggestion, Goal Seeker, no matter what, choose a goal you can L-O-V-E because that will give you the habits and behaviors you need to be successful at it.

That’s what I got for you, Goal Seeker…let L-O-V-E guide you

~ Let life love you!
