Conversations: Fearing success

Chris, most people have a fear of failure. For me, it’s all about fearing success and I want over it.

How do you find the courage to face a fear of success?

I applaud your courage for asking, fearing success.

Far too many people would think…why the heck would you fear success? Isn’t that what everyone is searching for?

The answer is no…not everyone IS searching for success.

More people, at least in my age group, are searching for peace…and for us THAT is success.

But I digress.

Fear of success typically arises when you’re afraid of the change success will make in your life.

It could be that you’ll be required to do more, to “be” more, to manage more, etc. And who wants that stress?

Better said, how many of us can manage that kind of success-stress?

So to find the courage to face it and embrace it requires you to manage success on your own terms.

It means not allowing the expectations and directions of those in your world, to influence you to meet THEIR idea of success.

It means defining success for your health and happiness and knowing that this definition is the only one that truly matters.

It does require courage to embrace success based on what’s important to you.

But if you have the courage to ask the question, you certainly have the courage to define success, for you.

So…sit down and write down what success means to you.

  • What will success look like for me?
  • How much change am I willing to accept and still find success on my own terms?
  • What’s non-negotiable to enjoy my success?

And then, my courageous “fearing success” friend, celebrate that you know yourself BETTER than anyone else.

That’s the essence of success in my book!

~ Let life love you!
