Conversations: Feel the burn

Hi there Chris,

I have had a big week! .And now I have been feeling the burnout of doing all the things on my plate. I feel a bit under the weather. Can you relate?

You know, feeling burnt out from doing so much while giving to everyone else?

Signed,

Feel the burn

Hey there, feel the burn!

I feel you… (pun intended)

When we get in the groove and achieve BIG things, we forget about taking care of ourselves in the process. However, life and your body have a way of evening things out…and you then…feel the burn.

Here’s a suggestion.

When you find yourself knocking off the items on your list, give yourself a little pat on the back after each one.

You can stop and say, “whoo hoo” look at me rocking it! Let me just do a happy dance for a minute.

This gives you brain and body a chance to savor the moment so that you disperse the energy you’re holding tight, simply to get things done.

If you find yourself giving to everyone and now need to give to you so that you don’t feel the burn, then take yourself for a walk.

Just like our pets will let us know it’s “me time” look in the mirror and say to that gorgeous face looking back  at you…”hey you, how about a walk?”

And even if it’s raining outside, set a target to walk around your home for 10 minutes, stopping to stretch, high five yourself and think about the amazing person you are for helping/taking care of you and others.

Such a small activity can give you so much self-love and energy, once again, releasing the energy we hold tight to get things done.

I guess you can tell that I have experience with this. Yup! I can feel it most in my shoulders. They end up touching my ears if I sit in this tight energy for too long…and then they ache.

My solution is to move. I will exercise, meditate (which starts with shoulder rolls) or even take a nap. Anything that gets me to move. And yes, taking a nap requires me to walk to my couch or bed which is motion! smile

Disperse the energy you’re holding tight in its grip so that you can release the fuel for the fire, feel the burn.

Once you do that, you’ll recharge the flame which will serve to inspire you to accomplish so much more, with so much less effort.

~ Let life love you!
