This is one of my ALL-TIME favorite things to say to myself.
When things don’t go as planned, I stop and ask…what’s the gift in this?
There’s ALWAYS one.
Here’s a small example.
I spilled something in my oven and cleaned it up.
I had no idea how far it traveled…down into the drawer below the stove, I found a few days later. I was annoyed to say the least.
I had never really paid attention to that drawer other than to store sheet pans. So to clean the drawer effectively, I removed all the pans and found some dust in the back corners!
After thoroughly cleaning the drawer I said to myself, if you hadn’t spilled something you never would have found the dust bunnies.
It was a gift.
There’s ALWAYS one.
So the next time something happens that annoys you, pisses you off, or that you just don’t want to deal with…ask yourself…
What’s the gift in this?
