Conversations: Want to be fearless

Hey Chris,

I’ve read the quote below and would love to embrace it. Can you tell me how?

“Once you accept fear and experience it full, it no long controls you.” ~ Panache Desai

Signed,

Want to be fearless

~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, want to be fearless…this is truly powerful!
We spend our lives trying to avoid things we’re fearful of, don’t we?
  • We work hard, so we won’t be broke.
  • We play hard, so we won’t regret working so hard.
  • We love hard, so that we don’t feel so alone.
We even avoid looking at our fears, for fear that they might come true.
So, I get why you love this quote and want it to work for your life.
But can I just tell you…
It will require you to face a real fear, accept it and move through it to release its control over you.
Are you willing to do that?
Perhaps you already have and you’re not recalling a situation or fear that you’ve truly faced.
I have had the privilege of experiencing this quote, personally.
So if you’ll indulge me in a little storytelling?
I had the joy of running my own business for 6 years, after a lengthy corporate career. When I was working for someone else, I had a paycheck every two weeks. I didn’t worry about being able to pay my bills or afford little luxuries.
Well, when you’re in your own business, you don’t have that kind of certainty…You still have the bills and very little luxury (except for food!) and that brings a boatload of fear!
I had savings designated to get me through, until I could generate consistent income. Many a night, I went to bed and kept telling myself, just keep a roof over your head! Talk about hairy and SCARY.
By year 5+, I had finally established a foothold in my business and my income. It wasn’t back to my corporate level, but I now knew how to get through to the other side of this fear.
Because of this experience,  I actually have no fear about money. I know what to do to make it, grow it and keep it.
I could NOT be in this place if I hadn’t gone through some SERIOUS fears and emerged on the other side of it.
So, want to be fearless, take some time to look at a place in your life where you faced some serious fears and lived to tell the tale.
I guarantee you, it no longer has a hold on you.
Use that experience to remind you, whenever you’re in a place of fear, that this WILL serve me later.
I will have control over it.
You’ll likely move through it far faster with that kind of conviction.
My best to you!
